Tastemaker:

If you're anything like me, you can't wait to start the weekend a little early. On Thursday nights in downtown Los Angeles, La Cita hosts the best cumbia night in all of Southern California. And what better way to celebrate Thursdays than eating at the famous La Cha Cha Cha!

Don't know how to cumbia dance? Born with two left feet? Not a problem. This date starts with a private lesson at the Liz Lira Dance Academy in Culver City. Private lessons should be booked in advance and cost around $100/class for one hour. Although you won't be an expert by the end of the night, the basic cumbia step is quite easy and one hour is more than enough to get some practice in.

A stylish high-end Mexican eatery perched on a swanky rooftop terrace in downtown's art district. Choose from dishes such as the Terraza Tostada, a tostada topped with tuna and crispy onion on a bed of chile morita aioli, or their famous Carnitas topped with salsa fresca, cotija, and cilantro. Their cocktails aren't too shabby either.

Hopefully that tequila didn't cause you to forget all your dance moves. Dancing usually starts around 9:30 or 10pm. Don't miss the patio either!
