Girls Tour Mural

Everyone looks good in front of a pink wall, and everyone's already taken a picture at Paul Smith. Might I suggest this alternative, technically on Orange Grove around the corner from Melrose proper? Visitors report shadows in the afternoon, so don't go too late in the day.

Next stop:
1.8 miles in 8 minutes

Grab a snack from this hot-pink storefront before the next stop; you'll be glad you did. And yes, there are pink donut flavors - Da Berry Bomb, Cumpleaños with pink glaze, and Razzarita (as of this writing).

Yeah, yeah, Hollywood is mostly a grimy tourist trap. But there are a few very special places I recommend, and the Hollywood Museum is one of them. Housed in the historic Max Factor Building - a striking Art Deco confection - the Museum presents thousands of treasures spanning a century of Hollywood history. (Skip the basement if horror movies aren't your bag.) The beautifully restored lobby is also very, very pink - and do strike a pose in the "For Brunettes Only" makeup room, which is even pinker. (There are four colorful makeup rooms - blondes, brunettes, redheads, and the often-overlooked brownettes room.) Do note that the Museum is open 10-5, Wednesday through Saturday, so don't try to go Monday, Tuesday, or too late in the day.

The Beverly Hills Hotel is called the Pink Palace for a reason - it's been pink since at least the 1940s. Take your pick of three restaurants - the casual Fountain Coffee Room, the poolside Cabana Cafe, or the posh Polo Lounge. (Book a table for the latter two. Check the dress code if you are going to the Polo Lounge.) If you are going to the Fountain Coffee Room or the Cabana Cafe, try the Pink Palace Lemonade, made with strawberries and watermelon.
